Alta Vista High School's basketball Lobos traveled to Immaculate Heart High School and came home with a 44-38 victory over the Knights. The Lobos held the lead the entire game with a 15-0 1st quarter and led 25-7 at the half. The Knights mounted a furious comeback to cut the lead to 1 but Angel Martinez struck from beyond the arc and pushed the lead to 4 points. The Knights were forced to foul the rest of the way and the Lobos responded by making 2 of 4 free throws down the stretch to win the game.
Angel Martinez paced the Lobos with 23 points. Frank Leon continues to make tremendous strides with a 10 point effort and hard-nosed defensive effort.
The Lobo's Carlos Carreon added 5 points and a vital rebound at the end of the game to help seal the deal. Juan De La Rosa, Milton Hernandez and Fausto Fimbres each added a bucket each to the cause.
The Lobos improve to 5-0 and close out their successful 1st season in AIA with Bella Vista High School. Come out and pack the Kino Center for Senior Night!
